Welcome to Part Two of my three-part series on how you can use Zapier to make your life easier for lead generation and sales if you’re already using (or thinking about using) Instabot.
In my last post, I showed you how to Zap Instabot leads into your CRM. Besides CRM, another critical Zapier integration zaps Instabot leads into Slack.
As an employee at a startup tech company, naturally, I live and breathe Slack! The ability to get notified about qualified leads in real time is invaluable and saves me from having to receive a million emails every time someone talks to one of our bots.
Here’s how to get notifications in Slack when a user talks to one of your bots:
A. Create a Slack channel for your leads
Depending on how your sales team is structured, you may want to handle this differently. Here at Instabot, we have a dedicated public channel where leads come in, but you may want to send your leads directly to one person or a private channel. You can choose how you want to handle that when you set up your Zap.

B. Decide which information you want to pull through to Slack
There is nothing more frustrating than getting a lead but not having the information you need to take action on it right away! On the other hand, having too much information in your notifications can make it hard to see crucial data points. Don’t be afraid to iterate on this until it feels right!

Personally, these are the fields I like to include:
- Is this a new or returning user? (Instabot tracks this automatically)
- Link to Instabot conversation in portal (When I first set up this Zap I forgot to include this and wasted lots of time searching for specific leads in my Instabot portal – I definitely recommend including this one so you can see the conversation right away!)
- Name
- Company
- Location
C. Build your Zap
We already have a pre-built Slack template here, so be sure to check that out for ease! All you have to do is fill in each section of the template with the fields that you’ve decided to include (in Step B).

You can test the Zap and turn it on to work. Now you can get real-time notifications when a user engages with your bot, and get all their data sent to you for follow ups!
